The Networkfleet online GPS Application was in serious need of an overhaul of the back-end technologies as well as a face lift. In September of 2009, a campaign was started to completely redesign the UI components to make better use of the new technologies being implemented and deliver a user experience that allows for maximization of the data.

Working closely with a contract designer the old interface was documented and scrutinized. User studies and prototyping were used to come to wireframe designs and eventually mocked versions of key screens were created in route to the style guide. This project is ongoing.

This piece was created as a satirical parody of the Shepard Fairey “Obama Hope” illustrated poster for an (anti) fan blog who’s purpose is to point out the deficiencies of Al Davis as the Managing General Partner of the Oakland Raiders franchise.

The desired style for this piece was a perfect fit, borrowing from Russian-style propaganda posters and taking an opposing view to the Hope theme used in the Fairey piece.

Firestorm is a company that supports local firefighters during wildland fires throughout the year, based on contracts from government agencies. They had a web presence but wanted to put a more professional face on it to create a manageable sales tool that would appeal to these government agencies.

This project was spit into two phases, the first of which was to simply wrap a new graphical face around the existing content, and secondly redesign the site from the ground up with a new UI and fresh content. Unfortunately the current economy did not allow for phase two to be completed.

Being a small business, GPSit was looking for a set of sales materials that could serve a couple of functions; being placed in trade publications and handed out as promotional flyers at trade shows. The product was still gaining traction in the market, so the ads were created to promote awareness of the company and the feature set of it’s flagship device.

I was responsible for the art direction, design and layouts, and photography on this project.

One Nation Under Al is an (anti) fan site with a mission of letting Oakland Raiders fans send a message to the owner. The project required a clean site design with polls, commenting and a login-based anti spam functionality, but also an ability for the owner of the site to make updates to the content.

Joomla was selected as a solution that could meet the needs of the project and deliver it in an easy-to-use method for the site owner. A pre-existing theme was modified with new graphics and styles to reflect the disposition of the fan site and it’s followers.

Networkfleet is a GPS-based product aimed at managers of small to large fleets of vehicles, and was in need of a way to sell the features of the device to these managers in a language that related to their business needs. This demonstration uses a graphical representation of ideas and voice-overs to back up the topics covered in and easy-to-understand format.

I was supplied with the voice-over copy and asked to create graphics and animations to support the story. I also captured and edited the audio before integrating it with the animations.

The Sales Folder project was born out of a necessity for a tool that could be used in the field to organize and deliver the several sales sheets to potential clients. The folder also doubles as a stand-alone brochure that can be used to educate the clients on the features of the Networkfleet product.

GPSit, a telematics company was looking for a way to showcase the capabilities of their GPS product from their presence on the web. Because some of the technology is a bit complicated to understand, this demo was created to illustrate just what the product does and how it can benefit the customer.

This demo read almost like a storybook and needed to be delivered via the web, so Flash was the answer. All designs and animations were created and executed by myself.

This site was created for a punk/alternative band trying to increase their exposure. A style was desired that would reflect their “grungy” sound and provide a place where fans could sample music, view upcoming shows, and contact the band members.

Podcasting was a journey into new technologies that ended up as a side job that is now two years old and counting. Rookie Designer is an audio format podcast that covers topics in design, freelancing and business practices, and Appclinic is a video screencast that covers instructional tutorials in the Adobe Creative Suite of applications and more.

I host and produce each of these podcasts, record and edit the content and release it weekly via WordPress blogs which I also style and maintain.
